Isolated right ventricular outflow obstruction: A unique phenotype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with review of literature

Abstract

Biventricular outflow obstruction in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is an uncommon phenotype. A rare variant is that with isolated right ventricular outflow obstruction without resting or provocable pressure gradients within the left ventricular cavity. We describe a case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with isolated obstruction of right ventricular outflow tract wherein transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging were able to detect right ventricular obstruction caused by hypertrophy of septal and parietal muscle bundles of crista supraventricularis. The relevant literature is reviewed.
