Evaluation the possibility of induction osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells using homeopathy medicine symphytum

Introduction and Aims: Although bone regeneration is a complex and systemic physiological process which happened during regeneration remedy, the treatment of bone defect has been a problem faced by the clinical situation. At present, cell therapy is commonly used to treat bones defects. The patterns of cell therapy using stem cells and osteogenic inducing mediators. In the present study, the ability of homeopathy medicine symphytum to induce cell differentiation of rat bone marrow-drivedmesenchymal stem cells (rat’s BM-MSCs) into osteoblasts was studied. Material and methods: Rat’s bone marrow mesenchymal stem (rBM-MSCs) were isolated from rat’s bone marrow. Cytotoxic effects of homeopathic symphytum on BM-MSCs was evaluated by MTT assay. Intracellular calcification was studied with alizarin red staining after 7 and 21 days of osteogenic treatments. Result: MTT assay results attended homeopathic symphytum could decrease cells growth and proliferation independence of time and potency, 200C has high cytotoxicity (28% viable cells) so that lower potencies (30 C, 12 C, 6C) were used for next experiments. Alizarin red staining showed all the test groups could induce significant variation with negative control. The lowest potency (6 C) was significantly increased the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells to osteoblast cells and synergism groups in compare with test group have lower color intensity. Conclusion: According to this finding, Homeopathic symphytum could enhance osteogenic differentiation of rBM-MSCs and could be considered as a safe alternative for standard osteogenic medium.
