Iatrogenic botulism – a possible cause of generalised muscular weakness in child

Iatrogenic botulism is a rare but significant complication in botulinic toxin treatment, both in adult or pediatric patient. This article presents the case of a 5 years old child, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, tetraparesis and global development delay, predominant motor delay who, within 1 week after injection with botulinic toxin in lower limbs, developed generalized muscular weakness, difficulties in raising the head and sitting, drooping eyelid, speech and eating disturbances, symptoms that slowly resolved in about 8 weeks.
