Empire State of Mind: Multiculturalism and Diversity in New York’s Family Protection System

Abstract

The article discusses the dynamics of the family protection system in the city of New York, on the basis of the author’s experience in one of the social services agencies in that city. This professional experience allowed him to identify phenomena such as multi- culturalism, demographic diversity, and the way in which young New Yorkers assimilate the urban territory as contextual elements that have an impact on interventions with the families
