A semimicro method for the analysis of ganglioside sialic acid is presented. The method is based upon the fact that brain gangliosides can be adsorbed on a small amount of silicic acid from 92% n-butanol and eluted with methanol. Recovery of added gangliosides was found to be 93.5%, and the coefficient of variation for the analysis of 5 to 50 mg of tissue was found to be ±4.4%.
