The text deals with the fragmentation of the French exponent nominal syntagma (SN) in the context of generative syntax. The SN consists of two mandatory elements that are the determinant (Det) and the noun (N). Next to these is another optional element called exp or mod. The syntactic and semantic functioning of the expansive nominal phrase results in the construction of the homogeneous expansive noun phrase and the heterogeneous expansive noun phrase. The elements composing the homogeneous expansive SN are directly correlated to the name without any intermediary. The homogeneous expansive SN elements are ligated to the name by means of certain demarcators or morphemes. The occurrences are extracted from , a collection of tales folated by the writer Hampaté Ba. This is the story of a young lazy hare, despised by his family and his entourage and whose life boils down to a pathetic decay.
