Management of weeds associated with the cultivation of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) in the Agricultural Enterprise "Valle del Yabú"

Abstract

The incidence of weeds in potato cultivation in the Agricultural Enterprise “Valle del Yabú” affects the development of this crop. To evaluate the management of the weeds associated with this crop and its influence on the agricultural yield in this Enterprise was the objective of this work. The potato cultivar used was Ultra, planted on December and harvested at 94 days late. The bank of weed seeds were determined. In the field were carried out five samplings to determinate the weeds population, using a mark of 0.50 m x 0.50 m. The species were identified and the number of individuals were quantified for ecological parameters indicators. Ten weeds species belong to five botanical families were identified in the experimental area crops; Poaceae was dominant in the community. Cyperus rotundus L. presented the biggest values of relative Abundance. During the critical period of grow was low the weeds presence without affecting the average yields.
