Objective Under TACS (train autonomous control system), the key functions of automated depot significantly impact train operational efficiency. It is essential to study these critical functions in automated depot by focusing on the main depot operations in the context of TACS characteristics. Method The characteristics of TACS are analyzed, in light of existing issues in current automated depot with CBTC (communication-based train control) system, the key functions of TACS automated depot are expounded from depot shunting, train wake-up and sleep, train departure, and train storage perspectives. Result & Conclusion TACS eliminates the need for setting up interlocking subsystems and trackside secondary detection equipment. In TACS automated depot, once a train receives a shunting task, it proactively requests line resources and independently completes the operation. The sleep zone is no longer required, and the train does not need to read beacons to verify its position upon wake-up. TACS automated depot features stable wake-up functions, flexible sleep spots, efficient train departure operation, reduced depot track requirements, and simplified shunting process.
