Objective: To assess the level of asthma control in patients treated at a pneumology outpatient clinic of a hospital in Recife-PE. Methods: Cross-sectional and descriptive study with a sample composed of people with asthma treated at the reference outpatient clinic during a period of 2 months through a peculiar instrument, encompassing the proposed objectives. Results: According to Global Initiative for Asthma criteria, for the clinical control level, (23.7%) had partially controlled asthma, (44.7%) had moderate persistent asthma, according to the severity level and the control level of this disease by the ACQ (Asthma Control Questionnaire) test, (31.6%) of the sample had uncontrolled asthma. Conclusion: The studied sample revealed a low level of asthma control; therefore, investigating the factors that are contributing to this condition in a more detailed way will foster a better follow-up of this disease, since asthma is a chronic multifactorial condition influenced by external factors.
