Severe plastic deformation (SPD) is the geometric shaping of material for improving both physical and mechanical properties. An alternative equal channel angular plastic deformation (ECAP) method to conventional plastic forming is being used and developed to obtain superior mechanical properties. Much smaller grain size is obtained as compared to traditional methods, as large unit deformation is applied in one go and dislocations are rearranged. Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), which is best known among the extreme plastic methods for providing an unusual combination of ductility and high strength in materials, is emerging as the method showing the largest ability to find its place as the application field today. In this study, the effects of excessive plastic deformation on the mechanical properties of the 6063 aluminum alloy were investigated in the equal channel angular pressing (ECAP).
