La perception de l’enseignement à distance par les étudiants en situation de confinement : premières données

This study offers an analysis of the experience of students facing distance education imposed during a period of lockdown and mainly consisting in a simple digital transposition of traditional education. More than 7000 students of Université de Lorraine answered a survey about distance learning offered since March 2020. This survey aims to analyse their perception of this form of study which has been imposed on them. After having explored their feelings in terms of advantages and disadvantages, we analyze the tools offered to them in different learning situations. Special attention is paid to examinations and to digital divide. The results are practically independent of the disciplinary sectors, the gender of the respondents, their level of education and highlight a generally unenthusiastic perception. If this was to be expected, this study will bring to light quantitative data on this perception. To extract only a few figures from these results, let us mention that the loss of motivation and the problems of concentration affect two thirds of the students, that the unfairness of distance exams is put forward by half of them. Besides, only a third of the surveyed population considers the imposed experience as positive or very positive. While saving time in transport and being able to study at your own pace are cited as advantages, the simple transposition of classical teaching to distance education is far from popularity.
