This exploratory research project studied multiple cases of schools considered as violent. It focused social relations among teenager students, as well as the composition of aggression/ protection groups, with dominator leaders and dominated members. These schools reflected violence of their social context, at the same time that they processed it as a sort of laboratory, sending it back to the same context. As a result, they became loci of human rights violations. Broad public policies, ignoring this subtle tissue of human relations, may not attain the roots of violence dynamics, thus not reaching their objectives and goals. We suggest some alternatives to overcome violence, founded on philosophy and sociology of education.
