The article is devoted to the study of the mask in the Spanish theatre of the Golden Age using the example of several comedies by P. Calderon. Despite the fact that Calderon is one of the most studied authors of the Spanish theatre of the Golden Age, not all of his works have yet been published and only a small part has been translated into Russian. The subject of research in this article will be stage interpretation, since at the moment, with the advent of technical capabilities, including virtual modelling, the focus is gradually shifting towards studying staging techniques. Within the chosen framework of expanding the concept of a mask not only as a prop but also as a method of disguise that includes, for example, such episodes when characters change clothes, disguise themselves, etc., the question of limiting the number of plays mentioned is not raised. Consequently, this approach will make it possible to collect a database of techniques using a mask, which, when referring to other works of Calderon, can be clarified and supplemented until a comprehensive picture of techniques in the Spanish theatre of the Golden Age is obtained.
