As a key component of a power system, an energy storage system plays important roles in peak regulation, frequency modulation, new energy consumption, and emergency power supply. The optimal configuration of the electricity-gas multi-energy storage system in the regional integrated energy system is studied considering the users’ energy substitution behavior. Firstly, a regional integrated energy system model containing an electricity-gas multi-energy storage system is established. Then, an optimal configuration model of an electricity-gas multiple energy storage system is established considering the users’ energy substitution behavior and aiming at the economy. Moreover, a reliability assessment method for the system is proposed. Finally, the model is verified by invoking the CPLEX solution in MATLAB through an example. It is demonstrated that the complementarity of the multi-energy storage system can be used to reduce the cost further and increase the reliability of the integrated energy system.
