Platform for Kosovo: The response of the Central committee of the League of communist of Yugoslavia to the demonstration of the Albanians and the attempt of rebellion in 1981
Abstract
After the changes in the character of federation from 1966. to 1974, provinces within SR of Serbia became states as per everything, except as per the name. The leadership of SAP of Kosovo made use of such position so as to reinforce its position through the process of albanization of the province. After the demonstrations and attempt of rebellion of the Albanians in 1981, CKJ YLC decided to pass the Platform for Kosovo as the comprehended document in which it should have been given the assessment on the demonstration causes, and measurements for the stabilisation of the state. During the work on the Platform adjustment there were strong pressures on the working group so as the document would be formulated to bypass two main issues: emigration of the Serbs and Montenegrins from Kosovo and constitutional relationships in Serbia. In the leadership of the YLC the functionaries had seen the situation on Kosovo and measurements for its solution through the interests of their federal units so that the Platform was passed as the result of political compromise. Such relationship toward problems in Kosovo and the Platform which should have been the guidepost for their solution had impact on the situation to be deteriorated, and escalated in the middle of the decade.
