Le massacre de Thiaroye : crime continu de la Françafrique
Abstract
The Thiaroye massacre (Senegal) perpetuated on December 1st 1944 by the french army towards former war prisoners coming from French West Africa is an illustration of “Françafrique”. Concerned African countries never demand to shed light on this state lie which has been lasting for almost 80 years and Senegal still doesn’t contemplate the digging of the common grave. France, following court appeal, has been constrained to reconsider the classification of armed rebellion and bloody crackdown. Now, this colonial crime which will remain unpunished is appropriately named massacre but France yet to pursue obstruction to truth disclosure and still doesn’t offer rehabilitation for those men assassinated, wrongfully condemned and despoiled from their rights nor redress to the families.
