The self-healing of defects induced by the hydriding phase transformation in palladium nanoparticles
Abstract
Nanoscale materials commonly have improved properties over their bulk counterparts. Here, the authors use Bragg coherent diffractive imaging to reveal that Pd nanoparticles can self-heal crystallographic defects induced during the hydriding phase transformation, making them more resistant to strain-induced damage.
