HABITUSES OF THE RUSSIAN POPULATION: METHODOLOGY AND CLASSIFICATION

Abstract

Purpose. To present the author’s methodology for determining and developed an extended classification of the habitus of the Russian population. Method and methodology of the work. To determine habitus, the author developed and applied an approach consisting in determining the habitus using a combination of the action (disposition) direction of the actor and his capitals. habitus were determined in the process of qualitative research in the form of focus groups. During the focus groups, various micro themes were discussed, further analysis of which made it possible to determine to which action’ direction a particular group member belongs; to determine, in his opinion, the most effective and main capital, to identify the habituses inherent in a particular combination of direction of action and capital. Results. Depending on the combination of action and capital direction, 48 types of habituses of the Russian population have been identified. Each habitus is given an extended characteristic. Scope of the results. The presented classification of the habituses of the Russian population, along with an explanatory function, allows predicting the possible actions of actors. It also becomes possible to develop and apply measures aimed at correcting the possible actions of actors, which is especially valuable in the practical application of sociological research results of various orientations.
