New productive systems at the local level: from concept to action
Abstract
This article highlights the concept of local productive systems in the context of the new emerging economic patterns at the global level. From a development planning perspective, the author shows why the concept of space should not be seen as a neutral support, passively submitted to exogenous constraints that underestimate the importance of the territorial dimension. Instead, the author believes that it can be redefined to foster an economic reconstruction based upon technological innovation and a new kind of industrial development.
