The paper discusses didactic and methodological possibility of using musical folk dances of Sirinić parish in elementary school music teaching. The aim was to determine and explain its meaning and importance in teaching. Given that the folk musical creativity of Sirinić parish is insufficiently represented in ethnomusicological and other music-pedagogical literature, the paper gives examples of songs and dances recorded by the authors during 2011 in the villages of Štrpce and Gotovuša, belonging to Sirinić parish. Special attention was paid to the customary and ritual songs and dances, which are by their own engaging and musical characteristics suitable for use with elementary school students. The paper points out the great aesthetic and ethical importance of introducing songs and dances of the region in primary school, as well as the possibilities of their didactic-methodological interpretation aimed at developing students' musical abilities, musical literacy and educating of musical tastes. The use of the contents of musical folk dances of Sirinić parish in teaching should contribute to its fostering and preservation, strengthening and enhancing national identity, especially for students from Kosovo and Metohija.
