DISINFECTION AND CALLUSES ON THREE TYPES OF EXPLANTS AGAVE COCUI TRELEASE
Abstract
The cocuy, Agave cocui Trelease, is specie of agro-ecological and economic importance in semiarid areas, mainly for the production of liquor. Currently, wild populations are exploited without reforestation causing a reduction them. Evaluation of different methods of surface disinfection of bulbils with the use of combinations of sodium hypochlorite 1 and 2% active chlorine duration 10 and 20 minutes of treatment. As the stem explants were used, the base and the segments of the leaves. Contaminating microorganisms were observed. The calluses formation was evaluated in the three explants mentioned. The best disinfected explants were the base of the leaf and segments thereof, with 92 and 84%, respectively. As contaminants fungi predominated. The best results in callus formation were at the base of the blade, with a 37, 17%.
