Kinder- und jugendgesundheitsbezogene Unterrichtsinhalte im Querschnittsbereich Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung [Addressing child and youth health-related topics in the medical curriculum with the interdisciplinary subject “prevention and health promotion” ]
Abstract
[english] Beyond the scope of their respective specialities, physicians are not sufficiently trained in preventive strategies in the area of child and adolescent health. To address this problem within medical education, clinical disciplines should be supplemented with public health-related disciplines such as the interdisciplinary subject “prevention and health promotion”. This paper takes a detailed look at prevention and health promotion seminars conducted at the Hanover Medical School in regard to child and youth health-related topics. These topics were compared with those listed in the sub-modules of the Catalogue of Subjects in the Socio-medical Sciences developed by the German Society for Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP). Five areas of behavioural and environmental prevention in childhood and adolescence were covered in the seminars. The seminars comprised all child and youth health-related topics listed in the sub-modules. Further topics of the Catalogue which are not intended explicitly for child and youth health were also included in the seminars in relation to child and youth health. Additionally, topics that are dealt with separately in the Catalogue of the DGSMP are combined with one another at the Hanover Medical School. Due to faculty-specific approaches to child and youth health-related topics in German medical education, standardization of topics and content can solve the problem of limited resources including time and staff. Therefore, prioritisation of such topics and agreement on the instruments to be used for the transfer of knowledge to students are needed. [german] Ärztinnen und Ärzte sind für bestimmte Bereiche der Prävention bei Kindern und Jugendlichen außerhalb ihrer konventionellen Tätigkeitsfelder unzureichend ausgebildet. Dem kann im humanmedizinischen Studium begegnet werden, indem medizinisch-klinische durch Public Health-nahe Disziplinen wie dem Querschnittsbereich Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung ergänzt werden. Die Seminare dieses Querschnittsbereiches an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover (MHH) werden hinsichtlich ihrer kinder- und jugendgesundheitsrelevanten Aspekte vertieft dargestellt. Diese Seminarinhalte werden den Themen in den Teilmodulen des Stoffkataloges der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Sozialmedizin und Prävention (DGSMP) gegenübergestellt. Seminarübergreifend werden fünf Bereiche der Verhaltens- und Verhältnisprävention im Kindes- und Jugendalter behandelt. Die Inhalte berücksichtigen alle kinder- und jugendgesundheitsrelevanten Themen, die in den Teilmodulen des Stoffkataloges der DGSMP gelistet sind. Darüber hinaus werden in den Seminaren auch solche Themen des Stoffkataloges mit kinder- und jugendgesundheitsrelevanten Inhalten belegt, die im Stoffkatalog nicht explizit für diese Inhalte vorgesehen sind. Zudem werden Themen miteinander kombiniert, die im Stoffkatalog getrennt voneinander behandelt werden. Vor dem Hintergrund des deutschlandweit fakultätsspezifischen Umgangs mit kinder- und jugendgesundheitsrelevanten Themen in der Lehre empfiehlt sich angesichts zeitlich und personal begrenzter Ressourcen eine hochschulübergreifende Standardisierung. Hierbei sind eine Priorisierung kinder- und jugendorientierter Präventionsthemen und eine Abstimmung bezüglich der Instrumente, mit denen die Inhalte den Studierenden vermittelt werden sollen, erforderlich.
