The literary testimony is part of the writer’s desire to reclaim the History to share the experience with the reader. This reappropriation finds its roots in a mechanism of resilience, which induces an intimate participation of the author, which highlights the cathartic dimension of literary testimony. Between reality and fiction, fictional testimony and testimonial literature, the literary possibilities turn out to be multifaceted. How does Leïla Marouane deal with the expectation of the reader in these years of Algerian civil war ? How to move from the « I » who lived to the « other » who reads and who receives ? Language will be thought in this article as the foundation of a cultural identity to be built or reconstructed, hence the reflection that we will be carrying out on the notions of interbreeding, subjectivity and reflexivity of language in Leïla Marouane’s work. The concept of pseudonymy and the notion of « foreigner », through the prism of exile literature, will also be discussed.
