To address the limitation of inability to detect lysyl oxidase enzymes (LOX) catalytic function associated with diverse disease processes, Wang et al. developed an in situ activity assay by utilizing the reactivity of hydrazides with imines and carbonyls. This assay detects the total LOX activity in situ for both overexpressed and endogenous LOXs in cells and tissue samples.
