Most of the commercial varieties of apple trees grown in the conditions of the Czech Republic are fully cross-pollinated and thus need pollinizers of other genotypes for fruit set. In the framework of this work, the pollination ratios between eight selected commercially grown varieties of apple trees were studied: ‘Braeburn’, ‘Fuji’, ‘Galaval’, ‘Golden Delicious’, ‘Jonagold Marnica™’, ‘Rubín’, ‘Rubinola’ and ‘Rubinstep’ and between three pollinizer genotypes from the genus Malus: Malus floribunda, Malus baccata cv. ‘Hansen’s baccata #2’ and Malus cv. ‘Evereste’. Over the course of two to three years, pollination experiments were repeatedly carried out, while combinations with all three selected pollinizers were carried out for each of the selected varieties. Pollination tests showed that the use of chosen pollinizers from the genus Malus in fruit production is possible because they can provide quality pollen for most of the market varieties tested. The predominant aspect for fruit production is fruit set. Nevertheless, it can be said that experiments have shown that insufficient pollination occurs in Malus floribunda in combination with the varieties ‘Fuji’, ‘Galaval’ and ‘Rubinola’ and in Malus cv. ‘Evereste’ in combination with the variety ‘Galaval’.
