With the aim of contributing with the dissemination of Emily Dickinson’s writings and the criticism on her work, this article presents an analysis of the poem “I dwell in Possibility” and its translation into Portuguese by Augusto de Campos. The reading hypotheses is that the poem is actually metalinguistic and that it defends and praises the act of writing poetry, presenting mainly characteristics of sacred and profane fusion.
