The contribution addresses the current European legislative framework concerning digital services regulated under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The scope of obligations under the DSA also depends on the size of providers of these services, with several provisions of the DSA providing exemptions from obligations for providers who are micro or small enterprises. For this reason, the article first focuses on defining micro enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, including startups and spin-offs, as well as delineating very large online platforms and very large online search engines. Subsequently, the impact of the new digital DSA rules on intermediary service providers is analyzed, with particular emphasis on identifying obligations that apply exclusively to micro and small enterprises.
