CHALLENGES OF THE DUAL EDUCATION MODEL IN THE INFLUENCE ZONE OF TECHNICAL INSTITUTE JOSE MARIO MOLINA PASQUEL Y HENRIQUEZ CAMPUS ARANDAS
Abstract
Dual education is a model that consists in students having professional training time not only in the academy but also in the industry, under a regulated framework between the Academy and the Company, sometimes with government support. It is a German model that has been imported into Latin America and Mexico in recent decades. The Mexican National Technological Institute (Tecnológico Nacional de México) formalized its program in 2015 as a Dual Education Model (MEDTecNM®) and during 2019-2020 the first dual student generations will begin to graduate under this model. Given the number of Technological Institutes (254 throughout the country), their regional vocation that they contain and the business characteristics of their area of influence makes the Dual Education Model become very particular for each Technological Institute. From the characteristics of its area of influence; the type of companies and their location, as well as the willingness and scope of participation; the linking capacity of the Technological Institute itself and its teachers; the careers offered at the Technological Institute; the type of government participation (if any) and finally the context and disposition of students are identified as the main factors to consider in a Dual Education Program for each Technological Institute. The objective of this project is to determine the MEDTecNM® implementation elements, which are difficult to fulfill, the involved actors benefits and finally some viable alternatives for their execution in the influence environment of the José Mario Molina Pasquel Technological Institute and Henríquez Campus Arandas in the State of Jalisco, Mexico.
