Trails of the female daughter in the chronicles of Julia Lopes de Almeida
Abstract
This research aims at recalling, perceiving and highlighting the uses, customs and education of women in the first decades of the twentieth century, more precisely between the years 1900 and 1910, in the chronicles of the Book of Donas and Maidens (1906), By Julia Lopes de Almeida. NEEDELL (1993) SONTAG (2004) STALLYBRASS (2008) contributed to the analysis of the historical and social elements expressed in the canvas work. She emphasized in the work the daily experiences, the yearnings, the customs and the social roles attributed to the woman. We sought to undress the values and prejudices of our present and to follow in the footsteps of Julia Lopes de Almeida. We went out of our present, we went into the past and brought back to the present a new way of seeing women in the society of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
