The total fertility rate(TFR) decline since 1960’s in Turkey. However, fertility declines slowed in the 1980’s. Turkey’s TFR is 2.53 in the 2000. TFR varies from 1.66 children per woman in Edirne to 7.06 in Şırnak. Fertility differs widely among regions within provinces as well. The TFR is highest in Southeastern and Eastern Anatolian regions(average is 4.31 and 3.72 children per woman), lowest in Marmara and Aegean regions(TFR is less than 2.0 children per woman). In addition to this,TFR increased in eight provinces between 1980 and 2000. The more years of school that women have completed, the lower their fertility. Education affects fertility through a number of interrelated factors, including women’s social and economic status, age at marriage, family size desires, access to family planning information and services, and use of contraception. The TFR is lower in urban areas and average is 2.20 in all urban areas and 2.03 in largest cities. The more activities rate of women in nonagricultural production and related works and except for unpaid family works, the lower their fertility rate, that is more possible in urban areas. Especially, highest and increasing TFR in Southeastern Turkey is very important socio-economic problem
