Abstract
Bernard Rudofsky is undoubtedly one of the most innovative and versatile creators of architecture and design of the 20th century. This article offers a detailed study of the drawings of his house in Frigiliana, an authentic manifesto and synthesis of contemporary living, claiming with it the values of vernacular architecture, its landscape dimension and the economy of means. Based on unpublished drawings, located in different archives, the research unveils for the first time the ideation process of house. The progressive refinement of the project and the degree of collaboration with Coderch through the graphic transformations are detected in sketches and plans. This study embraces the redrawing of the project, non-existent up to now, that has been contrasted with the built reality. Internationally recognized and protected as monument in 2011, its graphic representation has become drawn heritage.
