In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the phenomenon of architectural copy a l’identique: it is a pivotal topic in the field of Restoration of cultural heritage and in recent times we are encountering the phenomenon of architectural designs being copied all over the world with increased frequency, and copycat has also become a method for projects. We can trace previous (though rare) long-course examples of this phenomenon, whose origin lies in the ancient world. This paper aims to investigate a partial but representative example of architectonical replica in Greek and Roman antiquity, considering both cases from archeology and literary fiction and trying to underline the different meanings that copy acquires in the field of architecture. This study offers a first attempt to investigate this specific area and will also be an opportunity for further research into this subject.
