The debate about the recent memory in Chile inserts itself within a regional phenomenon of the reconstruction of a traumatic past. Peru, Argentina and Chile are only three examples of societies that have begun to work on the reconstruction of their memory, but not without difficulties and intense debates. The following work that we present forms part of the project: "Historicizing the living past in Latin America"--directed by Anne Perotin-Dumon. This text is about a group of intellectuals who emerged from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), which created a particular habitational community that served as a refuge during the most oppressive years of the Chilean military regime. An important part of the used sources corresponds to the oral testimonies of habitants of the place, as well as to those who were infants during the period of 1973-1983.
