In the title mononuclear complex, [Mn(C8H7O2)4(C10H8N2)], the MnII atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry defined by four O atoms from four 4-methylbenzoate ligands and two N atoms from one 2,2′-bipyridyl ligand. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions [the centroid–centroid distance between the parallel pyridyl ring of a 2,2′-bipyridyl and benzene ring of a 4-methylbenzoic group of a neighboring complex is 3.839 (2) Å].
