ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS, OBESITY AND DIABETES MELLITUS
Abstract
Although the current view of the causes of this obesity epidemic lies in an imbalance between caloric intake and energy expenditure, from an endocrine point of view obesity can be considered as a disorder in which numerous control systems are altered hormones that link the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, muscles, adipose tissue, liver and brain, and that involves an interaction between genetic and environmental factors.
