Results of the residency state exam of the specialty of family medicine, “Miguel Enríquez” Faculty of Medicine
Abstract
Background: the state exam is the completion of the exercises to obtain the degree of specialist in family medicine and it shows the training in different priority topics of primary health care.Objective: to analyze the results of the theoretical state exam to obtain the degree of specialist in family medicine, given in the period October-November 2017, at the “Miguel Enríquez” Faculty of Medicine of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana.Methods: a longitudinal descriptive study was carried out with the teaching results of the state exam declared in the objective.Results: the questions with the lowest grades belonged to the topics on analysis of the health situation (8 residents, 53,3 % of the total), obstetric hemorrhage (6 residents, 40 %) and aging (3 residents, 20 %). In the rest of the assessed topics 86,7 % of the residents obtained good results.Conclusions: the theoretical state exam to obtain the degree of specialist in family medicine showed cognitive deficiencies on the analysis of the health situation and obstetric hemorrhage.
