Ways to reduce the error of measuring fuel consumption with a heat flowmeter
Abstract
The work substantiates the need and suggests possible ways to reduce the error of measuring fuel consumption using a heat flow meter. The need to reduce the error arises under the specific conditions of operation of the heat flow meter on vehicles and the requirements placed on it in such cases, since heat flow meters are usually focused on a narrow range of fuel flow measurement and stationary flow modes, which cannot be accepted for transport internal combustion engines that operate for a long time at variable speed and load modes. Expansion of the range of measurement of fuel consumption with a heat flowmeter is proposed by the use of sequentially axially installed sections with different diameters. The condition for choosing the ratio of the diameters of the sections of the heat flowmeter is formulated, provided that the entire possible range of fuel consumption is covered by the internal combustion transport engine. The possibility of obtaining different speeds of fuel movement in sections of the heat flowmeter, the values of which can differ several times, is shown. The ways of influencing the indicators of the radial heat flow in the heat flow meter have been analyzed, which will affect the indicators of the axial heat flow, make them more informative, and this, in turn, will affect the error in the measurement of fuel losses. For a multi-section flow meter, a condition for choosing a temperature distribution with a minimum measurement error is formulated, it can be obtained from the readings of the thermotransducers of that particular tube of the multi-section heat flow meter, where the maximum total temperature difference between all adjacent thermotransducers was measured.
