Stretch marks are undesirable skin changes, defined as visible linear scars that are arranged parallel to each other and may be rare or numerous and indicate an injury to the skin because there is an elastic localized imbalance. There is evidence that their appearance is multifactorial, not only mechanical and endocrine factors, but genetic and familial predisposition. The highest incidence occurs among females, aged 12 and 14, and children 12 to 15 years. The objective of this study was to develop a formulation containing the Retinoic Acid in the concentration of 2%, based on preliminary studies of stability, so that proves a better effectiveness of this asset in restoring the appearance of striated skin, seeking to improve the physical appearance and psychological people affected by stretch. As part of the study we developed we used the tests of physical and chemical stability, such as organoleptic characteristics, pH, viscosity, thermal stress, and centrifugation cycle freezes and thaws. The applied tests show that retinoic acid behaves within the standards required for the formulation development.
