Effects of orientation on fatigue behaviors of ZK60 magnesium alloy pre-corroded in PBS
Abstract
The strong anisotropy of magnesium alloy affects both its corrosion and fatigue performance by orientation, and it is important to investigate the effect of orientations on the two properties for the development of magnesium alloy in the biomedical field. In this paper, through the corrosion experiments and fatigue experiments of corroded specimens, the differences in corrosion resistance and fatigue failure performance of ZK60 magnesium alloy with different orientations were investigated, and the mechanism of these differences was analyzed. In terms of corrosion performance, compared with the RN surface, the RT surface with higher atomic arrangement density has a lower corrosion rate and higher corrosion resistance. In addition, regarding the fatigue performance, the corroded RT-R specimens had the longest fatigue life, followed by the RN-R and RN-N.
