LEXICAL AND SEMANTICAL REPRESENTATION OF SYNTHETIC OVERVIEW OF EGOCENTRISM FROM THE POSITION OF AMERICAN LANGUAGE CULTURE BEARERS
Abstract
The article presents the results of a study of the ordinary, generalized, collective, reflected notions in the lexical-semantic system of the language, the notion of bearers of American language culture about egocentrism. The studied representations are fixed in the objective-conceptual meaning of lexical units, which are used to define the concept of “egocentrism” and related ones, as well as the objects of the corresponding conceptual fields (phenomenon, subject, signs of the subject) are designated. The semantic structure of 34 lexical units have been studied and compared. They form 3 synonymous series and are related to the series by synonymous relations. The descriptive method, definitional method, analysis and generalization are applied. The revealed integral and differential semes allowed the author to reconstruct the summarizing of Americans about egocentrism. In addition, the author analyzes the scientific ideas about egocentrism in such fields of knowledge as philosophy, psychology, sociology, pedagogy, theory and history of literature and linguistics.
