This essay discusses the Special Secretariat governance model of improvement needs of Indigenous Health of the Ministry of Health of Brazil and skills as the body responsible for managing and implementing the National Policy on the Health of Indigenous Peoples and its articulation with the other policies of the Unified Health System, discusses the difficulties encountered with the current model and its applicability across the specificities and ethnic diversities of the 305 indigenous peoples of Brazil and has the proposal of complementary and overcoming the creation of the National Institute for indigenous Health.
