Design of a test bench for fatigue tests under rotary bending stresses on two supports and cantilevered
Abstract
A test bench was designed where rotary bending fatigue tests will be carried out in two ways: (1) Constant amplitude load in uniform bending movement throughout the sample and (2) Constant amplitude load in non-bending movement. uniform throughout the sample. This basically consists of submitting to a specimen with standard dimensions and manufacturing conditions; at variable loads over time, for a specified number of cycles (N) until it collapses or fails. This type of test is very important because the materials behave very differently against static loads than they do with loads that fluctuate over time, so it is necessary to know their resistance to fatigue. The phenomenon of fatigue is responsible for 90% of the parts in service to fail suddenly. This created the need to obtain a design limit value that guarantees that the element works under normal conditions if this limit is not exceeded in the mechanical design. This value is known as the limit of resistance to fatigue and is related to the number of load cycles that a part is required to support. Fatigue resistance limit data are obtained from dynamic tests.
