Gout in the elderly

Abstract

Gout is an infl ammatory disease due to articular urate crystaldeposition. Clinical presentation in the elderly is different fromthe general population, which can turn its diagnosis diffi cult. Gouttreatment in the elderly is similar to adults. Drug-related undesirableeffects are more likely to occur in this age group.
