Throughout history, cities have experienced more or less lasting crises that have led to significant declines in population and economic activity and even to their destruction. However, contemporary dynamics have led to strong disparities on a global, national and metropolitan scale and concentrate the decrease in certain areas and cities. In a context of increasing competition, these are increasingly separated from the global race by obtaining resources, capital and power. In this way, the objective of this article is to raise a reflection on the emergence of these issues in Spain and France, understand their inscription in the international debate and, proposing a denomination, contribute to the affirmation of this line of research in both countries.
