Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor - Report of Three Cases

Abstract

The Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) is a benign epithelial tumor that accounts for 3% of all odontogenic tumors. This tumor, most commonly found in maxillary arch, mimics a follicular cyst associated with an impacted tooth. Clinically, it presents as a slowly growing, painless mass, found more frequently in female patients and has a peak incidence in the second decade of life. Ranking four among the odontogenic tumors the AOT is not a particularly rare tumor. Surgical enucleation is the treatment of choice and recurrences have not been reported. In this article three cases of AOT are presented with characteristic clinical, radiographic and histological features.
