Geoinformation technologies in problems of power consumption efficiency analysis
Abstract
An efficient energy companies' management is impossible without detailed information on their objects state localization. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to monitor the spatially distributed objects of the energy industry regularly, analyze and visualize of its systems, subsystems and components work. Therefore, there is a need for a toolkit that can help companies' managers to make highly effective decisions at all industry, enterprise or a separate department of the power company management stages. Today's geoinformation systems (GIS) and geoinformation technologies (GITs) are the most powerful tool for analyzing energy systems and business analytics in world practice. An urgent problem of the national economy competitiveness is its energy efficiency low level, the Ukrainian energy sector unsatisfactory technical state, which continues to deteriorate as a result of the fixed assets aging. Most power plants have exceeded the physical wear limit, which leads not only to the existing capacities loss but also to environmental pollution. This all prompts a thorough modernization. At the present stage, the Smart Grid (Intelligent Energy Systems) is actively developing in the world's energy sector, on the basis of which a special program module for energy using GIS – ArcGIS for Electric has been developed that is capable of solving tasks on the additional modeling block basis. The application of GIS simplifies the forecasting process. Information falling into GIS is interpreted as separate information layers, and a powerful analytical algorithm quickly analyzes this information in the synthesis. As a result, more accurate electricity consumption forecasts and the possibility of their presentation in the form of maps and forecast charts are obtained. The role of GIS is growing with the energy development – the Smart Grid concept, which facilitates the client and supplier interaction, redistributes the load, integrates the capacities distribution, thus joining networks, consumers and manufacturers into a single automated system, an actively-adapted network, which in real time allows you to track and control the all process participants operation modes. Ukrainian energy needs innovative approaches not only in modernizing the object's component, but also in the production activities and energy resources economic use management. This innovative approach is the world-renowned Smart Grid concept.
