A challenge in the form of an enigma proposed to Basílio da Gama

Abstract

After brief remarks on poetic games and the enigma, the author publishes an anonymous manuscript poem addressed to José Basílio da Gama (1741-1795), and then analyzes and attempts to answer the riddle that it contains.
