The article is devoted to the analysis of the image of a tree in Dostoevsky’s novel “The Idiot”. The author reflects on the evolution of this image from an artistic detail in the description of the Pavlovsk Park to the philosophical symbol of the Golden Age lost by mankind and the ideal future expected and dreamed of by all the characters of the novel. The author examines the manifestation of the image of a tree in the monologues of Prince Myshkin, Ippolit Terentyev, in the descriptions of the Pavlovsk Park, Switzerland, Lebedev’s mansion and dacha.
