Sipyloidea fontanesina was described briefly by Giglio-Tos, E. in 1910 on the basis of two females from Kolkata (Calcutta). There seems to be no further record and description of this species. In recent times this species was discovered in South India with many notable variations. These are described and illustrated by figures.
