The article investigates the expediency of applying the Pearson correlation method to find relationships between the percentages of the content of the constituent chemical elements of primary kaolin. The essence and basic principles of calculating the correlation coefficient using the Pearson method are considered, and a brief description of the initial data on the basis for this calculation to be performed is given. An example of interval gradation of the degree of intensity of the correlation coefficient is described, which is recommended to be used when working with empirical data. A matrix of correlations between the constituent chemical elements of primary kaolin was constructed on the basis of the results of chemical analysis obtained during geological exploration works under the conditions of the Yosypivka primary kaolin deposit. The degree of intensity of correlations of a number of constituent chemical elements of primary kaolin is determined. Linear equations to describe the dependences between the constituent elements with a correlation coefficient of medium and low, but close to the average degree of intensity, are derived.
